Thesis : Behind the Irish Music Scene

24 03 2011

So here we are: The first samples of my thesis to date (Except in black and white). The Coloured versions will appear in a book, which I’ll hopefully put up here as a pdf after May.

I’ve basically followed bands around, arriving when they do (usually at 4pm) and going home after they do. I’ve hassled a lot of people, pointed cameras where I was told not to and woken up a disgruntled bass-player with an over enthusiastic flash (not recommended). I’ve shot the bands live, but for the book, only candid, behind the scene images will be used.

Let me know what you think!

Squarehead, The Workman’s Club 24.02.2011

25 02 2011

Squarehead were on the bill with SPIES and Croupier last night in the Workman’s Club and it seemed like everyone who was super-uber-cool was there.Which explained why I was there. And Morrissey. He was there too. I’ll post that later – I’m currently trying to flog it to d’media folk. In the meantime, enjoy pictures from my new favourite Irish band.

have a .gif too: Exhibition

10 09 2010

This Monday, I will be proud to be taking part in the inaugural Nikon sponsored Photography Exhibition. Four of my own pictures will be placed along the works of the extremely talented State photographers (including James Goulden and Richard Gilligan), as curated by Loreana Rushe. There’ll be free grub from the lovely folks at Boojum, free beer from Heineken and DJ sets from Fight Like Apes and a live, acoustic set from Squarehead!

It’s Tuesday (September 14th) at The Workman’s Club (Wellington Quay, Southside of the Liffey, between the Ha’penny and Millennium Bridges ) opening at 6:30pm.

Hopefully I’ll see y’all there!

Here’s a video put together by James Goulden. Good man.
