Foster The People

1 12 2011

I won’t bore you with some banal chat today. Not when I’ve belter pictures to be showing you from Foster The People’s headline gig at the Olympia from this week.

As always, click to see them larger over at Flickr.

[Updated] OFWGKTA, the Academy

30 08 2011

Better late than never, eh?

Apologies for the delay, but here are the rest of my choices from OFWGKTA. It got much heavier once we got out of the pit, with Tyler crowd surfing several times, despite being in a cast with a broken foot. The crowd lapped it up – and fell over quite a few times. It was like a punk gig, or something. Terrible day to be a bouncer, I’d imagine. Anyway, enjoy this lot!

The Tallest Man On Earth

4 06 2011

A lying bastard he may be (he’s no more that 5’6″, I reckon), but Kristian is a fine entertainer. So good in fact that he moved a couple in the front row to spend the entire first three songs liplocked. It was only himself and the guitar, strutting around the stage for the most part of the night, which could have been a disaster, visually, had he not been so energetic. Anyway, he was bopping away and here are some of the pictures I gotted:

Oh and here’s his sister. She was in the support band, but I didn’t catch their name, but they were good. I like this shot too!

As promised, here’s Talking Shop Ensemble:

PhotoShoot – Shaun

26 05 2011

Yesterday I had the pleasure of shooting Shaun Dunne and the Talking Shop Ensemble members Aisling, Oonagh and Lisa, around Pearse Street and Trinity’s campus. The photos will be used in the upcoming Fringe festival program, but here they are before anyone else sees ’em. So, here’s Shaun in all his Technicolor glory. Talking Shop Ensemble should be up tomorrow!

Oh, and see that above pic, yeah? That’s the culmination of reading Strobist for about a year. Everything in the picture went just as I had visualized it. Quids in! I know people bad mouth it, and yes he’s probably the reason flashguns are over-priced these days, but there’s lots to be learnt from that blog. He doesn’t mention anything about buses mind, that was my own personal genius.

Enough wiffle-waffle, here’s a few more.

More thesis shots

12 05 2011

It has finally come to an end, this whole thesis malarkey. So here’s a few more choices picked at random from it. Again in black and white, coz well, hey it looks cool, right? That and because I can’t find all the colour images from my thesis. They’re around here somewhere – deep in that 100gb+ folder labelled ‘THESIS-IMPORTANT-FINAL’. …Chances are they’ll never be seen again, so enjoy these ones.

Aren’t they lovely? Altogether now: “oooh. aaaah. *gasp*….

State Magazine, Front Page

1 03 2011

State launched it’s faces of 2011 Digital Magazine, and yours truly landed front page. Nialler9 and Guardian favourite Retarded Cop is a man destined for big things. It’s not hard to see why, he’s creating catchy, interesting tunes at a rate of knots. His lyrics are hilarious and relatable. There’s no bullshit with Gaz, he doesn’t seem to hold much back musically speaking – and that’s before you watch him parade around in his underwear playing a sweeping-brush–guitar.

Alas, I’m not great with these new-fangled word-y things, so have another picture and if you want to see the whole magazine in all it’s technicolour, widescreen glory, just click either of the images and be whisked there by the magics of the internet. What an age we live in…

Can’t get enough of this song either. Enjoy
