The Darkness

5 12 2011

Give me a D!

‘D!’

Give me an Arkness

‘Arkness!’

Yes, The Darkness are back and I wrangled a pit pass for this explosive show.

I wasn’t expecting it to be half as good as it turned out to be. It’s been nearly five years since they last released anything, so expectations of a ‘reunion tour’ scenario, y’know ‘take the money and run through a set’ was quite high. Turns out all Justin and co. want is to be loved. And that they were. I must admit, it’s not hard to love a grown man who prances about in new jumpsuits every few minutes, whilst belting through some stomper hits… before riding a security guard like a bronco. …you just don’t get enough of that at the Olympia.

Anyway, you can find the rest of the set on State.ie or over at my Facebook Page

Old images found & restored

19 08 2011

This week I was charged with formatting an old hard drive in the house.¬†Thinking¬†I’d the lot I needed from it, I hadn’t checked it in months. After a quick look around I found some from the Kerrang! Relentless Energy tour a few years back. I don’t know how I’d missed editing them the first time, so here they are. A little bit banded and desaturated (such are the problems when you shoot in .jpg!), but otherwise fine. The bands are My Passion, The Blackout and All Time Low. They were as bad as each other musically, but they made for some decent poses at least!

State Magazine, Front Page

1 03 2011

State launched it’s faces of 2011 Digital Magazine, and yours truly landed front page. Nialler9 and Guardian favourite Retarded Cop is a man destined for big things. It’s not hard to see why, he’s creating catchy, interesting tunes at a rate of knots. His lyrics are hilarious and relatable. There’s no bullshit with Gaz, he doesn’t seem to hold much back musically speaking – and that’s before you watch him parade around in his underwear playing a sweeping-brush–guitar.

Alas, I’m not great with these new-fangled word-y things, so have another picture and if you want to see the whole magazine in all it’s technicolour, widescreen glory, just click either of the images and be whisked there by the magics of the internet. What an age we live in…

Can’t get enough of this song either. Enjoy

Lower Dens, Vicar Street, 22/11/2010

23 11 2010

While this post should be called ‘Beach House, Vicar Street’, lack of lights during their performance meant that I have feck all pictures of worth for this site. That said, support act Lower Dens were bathed in a lovely abundance of light. I only wish I’d paid more attention to them and taken more pictures. Ah well.

And here’s the Beach House one’s for comparison:
