Best of 2012

1 01 2013

So here we are, the first day of 2013 – time to look back at the year that was. Prepare yourself, it’s not short, nor indeed sweet. But there’s some cool stuff in there, I’m sure.
See if you can spot the three image composite portrait, the armpit hair lady and perhaps the worst ‘fenian’ tatto ever. Here’s to 2013!

[Updated] OFWGKTA, the Academy

30 08 2011

Better late than never, eh?

Apologies for the delay, but here are the rest of my choices from OFWGKTA. It got much heavier once we got out of the pit, with Tyler crowd surfing several times, despite being in a cast with a broken foot. The crowd lapped it up – and fell over quite a few times. It was like a punk gig, or something. Terrible day to be a bouncer, I’d imagine. Anyway, enjoy this lot!

Old images found & restored

19 08 2011

This week I was charged with formatting an old hard drive in the house.¬†Thinking¬†I’d the lot I needed from it, I hadn’t checked it in months. After a quick look around I found some from the Kerrang! Relentless Energy tour a few years back. I don’t know how I’d missed editing them the first time, so here they are. A little bit banded and desaturated (such are the problems when you shoot in .jpg!), but otherwise fine. The bands are My Passion, The Blackout and All Time Low. They were as bad as each other musically, but they made for some decent poses at least!

The Tallest Man On Earth

4 06 2011

A lying bastard he may be (he’s no more that 5’6″, I reckon), but Kristian is a fine entertainer. So good in fact that he moved a couple in the front row to spend the entire first three songs liplocked. It was only himself and the guitar, strutting around the stage for the most part of the night, which could have been a disaster, visually, had he not been so energetic. Anyway, he was bopping away and here are some of the pictures I gotted:

Oh and here’s his sister. She was in the support band, but I didn’t catch their name, but they were good. I like this shot too!

Portmarnock

29 05 2011

A drive to Portmarnock. That’d be fun AND relaxing. And it’d be a nice place to get some pictures.

Several hours later – having scaled wet rocks, nearly dropped my camera into the sea, been ambushed by a Mother Heron and then pinched by a wee crab, I gave up. I returned home exhausted, but with some decent landscape shots. Here they are in all their monotonic glory. Also, three posts in three days – and it’s not even Christmas! You lucky people, you.

These are only wee in size here, so if you wanna be truly gobsmacked and allow your retinas to feast upon some non-resticted sizes of these images, you should click them to see them in gorgous fullsize (and on a lovely black background, too)

I’m too good to you people…

More thesis shots

12 05 2011

It has finally come to an end, this whole thesis malarkey. So here’s a few more choices picked at random from it. Again in black and white, coz well, hey it looks cool, right? That and because I can’t find all the colour images from my thesis. They’re around here somewhere – deep in that 100gb+ folder labelled ‘THESIS-IMPORTANT-FINAL’. …Chances are they’ll never be seen again, so enjoy these ones.

Aren’t they lovely? Altogether now: “oooh. aaaah. *gasp*….

Choice Music Award

4 03 2011

Carpet burns on my knees, two dead batteries, more caffeine ingested than I care to admit and 8gbs of photos. That was the Choice Music Awards for me this year. Two Door Cinema Club took the gong in the end (and gave the 10k prize fund to charity. Nice.), but that was almost immaterial. The Irish Music Scene is f*cking fantastic these days. Adebisi Shank were stomper, James Vincent McMorrow brought the drunk crowd to a silence, Fight Like Apes seemed to win over even Morrissey (Yeah, I know – he’s definitely following me) and Cathy Davey is like a cure for anything.

Anyway, here’s the pictures you were after I take it. There’ll be more from Adebisi and The Cast of Cheers in the coming days, but make do with this batch til then.

(Imelda May wasn’t there, she was in Australia or something, so you won’t find her here. Oh, and if you don’t know who’s who, just leave your mouse hover over a picture for a second and bingo-bango it’ll tell you. Technology, eh? Magics.)
