The Tallest Man On Earth

4 06 2011

A lying bastard he may be (he’s no more that 5’6″, I reckon), but Kristian is a fine entertainer. So good in fact that he moved a couple in the front row to spend the entire first three songs liplocked. It was only himself and the guitar, strutting around the stage for the most part of the night, which could have been a disaster, visually, had he not been so energetic. Anyway, he was bopping away and here are some of the pictures I gotted:

Oh and here’s his sister. She was in the support band, but I didn’t catch their name, but they were good. I like this shot too!

Lower Dens, Vicar Street, 22/11/2010

While this post should be called ‘Beach House, Vicar Street’, lack of lights during their performance meant that I have feck all pictures of worth for this site. That said, support act Lower Dens were bathed in a lovely abundance of light. I only wish I’d paid more attention to them and taken more pictures. Ah well.

And here’s the Beach House one’s for comparison:

Bell X1, Vicar Street, 11/11/2010

13 11 2010

I’m usually very prepared. Really prepared, like. Batteries charged the day before a gig and everything triple checked.

So when I turned up to Vicar Street a half-an-hour before the band were due to start I thought everything was going okay. Until I realised I was shooting from the balcony. This hadn’t entered my mind as a possibility prior to this…

So there I was, tucked away on the balcony, mixing with the plebs, with only a 24-70mm and an 85mm lens.It made for some spectacularly piss-poor shots.┬áThe above shot is the best of a bad bunch – which is really saying something. You can click it ti see it large, if you should so desire, but truth be told you’re not missing much. Bell X1 themselves are still gonna be tiny. The crowd are still gonna be tiny. I was miles away from where I would’ve been comfortable.

Morale of the story – always pack the long lens. Always.
